A CIO told me "the coefficient of friction of fingernails across the table increases exponentially when loss of control is sensed/perceived"

From Jeffrey Levy, Director of Web Communications, Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency: "I'm delighted to share this guidance we just issued, after a year's work. It establishes that having individual employees using social media is a good thing for our mission, provided they follow minimal procedures like getting their manager's approval to spend the time and identifying themselves as EPA employees or contractors. It was written with full participation from general counsel plus our privacy and other policy leads. It doesn't address "program" level projects, like a video contest or establishing a new blog. It's solely about individual use. We're working on a larger, more inclusive social media policy, too. It'll probably come out in a few months."
I was asked to participate in this workshop by the EPA Office of the Administrator / Office of Environmental Innovation, but as you can see from the slides. I am just representing myself, not my agency for now.
